I'm Matthew Celestial, the Founder & CEO of Matte Equation.

Launching this brand has been a whirlwind. I thought it’d be as simple as picking a problem, formulating a solution and voilà – a brand would be born. But it's been a journey far more complex than I ever imagined.

With each iteration of my mask, I found myself gazing into the mirror longer than usual, noticing lines, beauty marks and scars I'd never paid attention to. I had never felt more insecure, so I kept pushing everything back.

In that moment, I realized there was more to do. I took time for introspection, diving into the essence of self-love and self-care. I did everything possible to change the narrative. What I discovered was simple: firstly, lead with your insecurities, and secondly, we can create our own rituals and practices, honouring self-care instead. Be in search of what makes you feel good.

I’ll never tell you what to do to “look good”, but I’ll be right there with you as you search for all the solutions to help you feel good.

We’re talking the good stuff — the liberation after a nice run, the butterflies in your stomach as you talk to your crush, the TGIF feeling at 5pm on a Friday, the first bite into your fave meal, the unexpected compliment, the moment you put on a mud mask and everything in between. We all deserve that good, good.

Matte Equation is a love letter to my younger self, the one I left behind in the pursuit of 'getting ahead' in life—and fitting in.
