FOUNDER, ARTIST & BEAUTY POWERHOUSE BEHIND TORONTO BEAUTY GROUP

Some people do makeup. Jessica Jean Myers makes moments.

As the founder and lead artist of Toronto Beauty Group, Jessica has built more than just a successful business, she’s created a career rooted in transformation, trust and intention. With a team of over 20 artists and a calendar that sees 200+ weddings per year, she’s become a staple in Toronto’s beauty scene, specializing in bridal, commercial and corporate hair and makeup. But beyond the brushes and bookings, Jessica brings something deeper to her work: a grounded energy and quiet confidence that makes people feel like their best selves before they’ve even seen the mirror.

“I often equate working weddings to being in the Super Bowl,” she says. “This is one of the biggest days in someone’s life, and I’m the first vendor they see. My energy sets the tone.”

It’s a role she doesn’t take lightly.

FROM BACKSTAGE TO BRIDAL

Jessica didn’t start in beauty. She studied theatre and acting in university. It was during a headshot session that she noticed the makeup artist was also an actor, and something clicked. A short course later, and she found herself in Shanghai working fashion campaigns. But when she returned to Toronto and pivoted to weddings, something shifted.

“I fell in love with it. Helping women feel their best on their wedding day? That never gets old.”

And so Toronto Beauty Group was born — a company rooted in artistry, yes, but also in mentorship, collaboration and respect.

“I don’t believe in gatekeeping techniques. I can teach someone how I do something — but taste and artistry, that’s their own.”

It’s this generous spirit that’s helped her grow not just a brand, but a true creative community.

THE WORK BEHIND THE BEAUTY

There’s a common misconception that beauty work is “just a hobby.” Jessica hears it all the time — “Is this your full-time job?”

But make no mistake: this is a business, and one she runs with precision. From 3 AM weekend wake-ups to full afternoons of corporate headshots, no two days look the same. But the one thing that never changes? Her commitment to showing up fully — for her clients, her team, and herself.

“I’ve never worked a 9-to-5 in my life. I’m always moving, always thinking, always building. It’s a lot — but it’s also freedom.”

Still, like many self-employed creatives, switching off is the hard part. She’s candid about how she struggles to take time off and how emails start her day every day. But when life feels too much, she finds clarity in movement.

“Spin, Pilates, boxing — I love just leaving my phone behind for an hour. It’s my reset.”

WELLNESS THAT MOVES WTIH YOU

In her line of work, physical strength is non-negotiable.

“People don’t realize how physically demanding this job is. You’re hunched over for hours. You’re carrying equipment. You’re standing nonstop.”

Her wellness routine? Stronger core = less pain. “In my 20s, I had back issues constantly. Now? I feel stronger than ever.”

And when it comes to skincare, she’s more than passionate — she’s an enthusiast. From SPF and red light therapy to her ever-growing collection of creams and masks, Jessica treats skincare as both armour and art.

WISDOM, SOFTNESS AND STAYING THE COURSE

When asked what keeps her going, especially through challenges like COVID, she returns to something she’s always believed:

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”

It’s a quote, a mantra and a mindset that’s shaped how she navigates not only setbacks, but success.

“I’ve been through worse and survived and thrived. So when things get hard, I remind myself — this is just a bump. And I’ve got this.”

That kind of quiet, inner knowing? It’s what makes Jessica extraordinary. Not just because of what she creates — but because of who she is while she’s creating it.
